Originally starting in London and now in its twenty-second edition in the capital, Parallax ‘Art’ Fair opens its doors for the first time in the great city of Manchester at Sachas Hotel, just off Piccadilly Gardens, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November. With an average of 280 individual display spaces and over 7000 products, representing over 40 countries, it has been dubbed Europe’s largest indoor artist and designer consumer fair. Over 40,000 art and design enthusiasts enjoyed the fairs last year and took advantage of the free entrance. Large numbers are expected for this popular visual extravaganza. As well as fine art, visitors can also browse exquisite pieces of jewellery design, textiles, furniture, ceramics, photography, and household goods and applied arts all at wholesale price. There is no extra commission on top of prices and no VAT on some UK-EU makers too. All the exhibitors are creative entrepreneurs (independent artists and designers), so buying directly from them supports the arts and crafts industries. Prices range from £20 up to £15,000, so there is a price for everyone. Free fast-entry tickets can be downloaded from the website for either opening day. “I am excited to be opening a fair in such a great world city,” said Dr C G Barlow, the fair’s founder. “My family hail from Manchester and I grew up in the region so it is like coming home!” There are restaurant facilities at the fair, as well as local Jazz bands playing daily throughout the event.
